Kitchen Hockey

So one day I was sweeping the kitchen and the next minute Austin threw a ball at me and all of the sudden we were playing kitchen hockey. It was more that I was the goalie and Austin would try and get the ball past. Yesterday Austin decided he wanted to switch up the roles and we thought we would share with you guys his awesome goalie skills...ok so actually he really ended up having a blast wielding a big stick and smacking things with the oversized goalie stick.

The Evan's Great Week!

It was our 4th aniversary this week! Greg was an angel and bought these gorgeous roses for me...my favorite. We also got takeout from Outback. (Austin loved it.) My favorite quote for the day (besides 'I love you') was 'Sarah...I am beginning to feel like your dad. I got takeout from outback for our aniversay.' All too true. Maybe next year we can do something special for our 5th. But for now...this was perfect.

I just have an adorable, happy, perfect kid!

Daddy had a really fun idea this week. We made a fort! Austin absolutely loved it. When he got sick of crawling in and out, he's simply jump on the blanket and ruined it! Now he really gets excited when we get the blanket out.

Halloween!

Austin loved the blow up Frankinstein...he just couldn't stand next to it by himself.

Our family had a lot of fun at the ward's trunk or treat. Somehow I ended up with more candy than I came with...still trying to figure that one out.

Loving the Pomegranate

I never really had these growing up, sorry mom if I am mistaken. I only remember trying this girl's pomegranate arils who brought them in for a class assignment in 5th grade. Sarah saw it at the store and thought it would be fun...Austin truly loves the stuff.

Boo at the Zoo

Austin had fun at the zoo today as you can tell by his expression having to stand next to the headless horseman. He was dressed up as a Lightning Mcqueen racer and Sarah and I were dressed in scrubs as his "Pit Crew." He had a lot of fun in the pumpkin patch and going trick or treating. We were lucky run into some friends of ours and spend the morning with them at the zoo.

Backpack

This morning Austin was upset about something that was beyond me. Greg, after a thorough but quick investigation, discovered that Austin was upset because he wanted to wear a backpack just like mommy.

Just a Regular Week

I haven't taken any pictures this week, but decided I should still post something so it becomes a "habit". We'll see. I started back at baylor and feel like I have enough information to keep me busy for an entire month. The highlight was the 8 hour lecture on ECG's. As boring as that sounds, I actually loved it. I'm such a nerd.
Austin's favorite new word....okay, my favorite new word to hear Austin say is 'turtle'. It's absolutely adorable to hear. However, flower and ma ma were hard to beat. Austin had his first big "owiee" this week. He either dove or rolled off the couch and landed on his face. His front two teeth dug into his lip creating quite the pool of blood. I felt so bad I stayed and watched baby einstien with him for a couple hours instead of going to school early to study. I'll have to thank him for that when he's older...because I loved every minute of it. I have the best son.
Greg is an angel and is absolutely perfect at everything. I couldn't live without him.

Today....The Park!

Today we had a lot of fun at the park. Austin loved feeding the ducks. His talent for throwing things really came in handy. While we were feeding the ducks, some of the cutest little ducklings came over for some food. We were worried that the bigger ducks would hog it all, but soon found out that those baby ducks were a lot faster and didn't need any special treatment.
After feeding the ducks, we went to another area of the park that had a water play area for children. No one was there at the time, but Greg (to the dismay of all other parents in the park and to the delight of all their half naked children) figured out that it worked through a motion sensor. Luckily we had a swim diaper and trunks in his diaper bag. Austin went nuts! He loved every minute minus when he tripped and smacked his head on the concrete :(... Luckily the only damage was a bumped head and a small cut on his lip. He's one tough kid!
We all had a really fun day. It makes me realize how much I love being a wife and mother. The other day when we were having family home evening, I was reading a children's book which correlates a father buying his daughter a bicycle and the atonement. When we got to the part about Jesus, I pointed to the picture and told Austin who it was. Austin then looked at me, got up and ran to a picture of Christ we have hanging in our home, pointed to the picture, and said "Jesus". I was floored. I am so blessed to have such an amazing child.

Next Destination "The Children's Museum"

Lucky for us, Thursday night is "Free Family Night" at the children's museum. Austin has found another fun place to visit here in Houston. His most favorite was the car....he is one serious driver. He is already taking all the girls for a spin (unfortunately we didn't get any pics of that!). He hated that hand seat which I thought was awesome and couldn't pass up. Luckly we got him to sit in it long enough for the picture though. This is definately a place we will come back to.

We Loved the Houston Zoo!

The zoo was one of our destinations for my "vacation". It was a lot of fun. Our favorite parts were the sea lions and the "children's zoo".

The Perfect Play Place!

When we were looking for this "amazing" mall here in Houston, Greg accidentally took us here...and we all loved it. It had a carousel and a really fun play area for children. After Austin decided to quit being shy, he loved climbing around and going down the slide all by himself. When we finally found the "amazing" mall....all decided that Greg's "mistake" was far better!

Hurricaine Ike

Many of you know that Greg and I got the fun experience of Ike. During the worst of it, we were partying at Pete and Ashlie's (bless their hearts). These are some pictures that we took when we got back. Most of it had been cleaned up, but we couldn't believe how much damage we still witnesses. The pictures really don't do it justice. Greg and I were out of power for one day coming back, a week after the hurricane hit. We were lucky. A few of my classmates didn't have power for over two weeks.

This is officially Sarah's first post!

Being out in Houston has been a great experience for our family. While I have been here, I have realized how nice it is to "stay in touch" with everyone. I have really enjoyed keeping up with everyone through these amazing blogs, resulting in my resolution. Instead of 'passing the buck' to Greg, I am posting my first blog entry. Quoting Steven "you baby knows how to work a computer better then you.......", therefore.......don't expect much.

Fun at the beach

We spent this past week in Carlsbad, Ca and had a lot of fun playing at the beach and going to California Adventure with Brett. On a side note he recieved his mission call to Tulsa, Oklahoma. We are really excited for him. He leaves late August. Austin loved the beach and could not get enough of the water or sand. He is such a good kid and had a wonderful time. This trip to california is probably the last vacation for the year as we head to Houston in June for Sarah to start school at Baylor College of Medicine. Thanks mom and dad for letting us come spend the weekend with you. It was so much fun the relax in the California sun.
